The First Trip
On the way back north, just south of Jacksonville, they hit a rainstorm so strong it forced Jody to pull the car over. He put the car in park, put the flashers on, leaned the seat back, said to Matt, Goddamn, this rain’s not fucking around.
Matt nodded in agreement. That’s some shit.
Jody rubbed his cheek, still sore from the night before. Jesus, it’s so fucking loud.
What?
I said the rain is SO FUCKING LOUD!
Then the rain got louder, their world was consumed by pounding water. Matt Lang leaned his seat back, too. They both waited with their hands behind their heads for the rain to let up, which it did before too long. When he could see the highway again, Jody sat his seat up, put the car in drive, and continued north.
